Everyone needs a little luck
[ This is a OC RP blog for the embodiment of Luck. His full name is Fortuna Antonia Claudia Ferus.

He used to be a She.]

And I'm happy to provide

If he were mortal, your Johnathan…

Would you truly just drop him like that?

If Johnathan were mortal, I wouldn’t have gotten attached in the first place. I’m not a fool like you can be. [Of course, that was Greed’s point of view. Owen’s was quiet different.]

You don’t really love him, do you?

image

You just want Fear.

Then perhaps you should do both of you a favor and break it off.

[He nearly whispered the words, all sweetness laced with bitter venom.]

Think of how much easier it will be for you both in the long run, Pet. You won’t lead him on to think that he could possibly be happy and actually have you stay… and you won’t have to see him wither away and die. Like the rest of your mortal family.

Maybe not at first. Still, how much can someone with limited time deal with one everlasting? He’ll grow old and wither away while you stay like this—forever young, forever vibrant. What would you do when he died, Fortuna? Take your own life? Would he forgive you that? I don’t think so.

[Your tears might have once softened Owen’s words, but they had no effect on Greed. Unfortunately for you, Fortuna, Owen was buried under all the malice and bitterness that Greed carried, and while he drowned under it all, Greed revels in your pain.]

Feelings. Love. They’re like luck. They come and they go, but they won’t stay for anyone. We both know that. Intimately.

[Fortuna remains still for a long time.  These were all words he’d heard before, things that Owen had said in passing or something he’d told himself.  But it didn’t make it any less painful.  It still stung to know that there really was no way for this to work for very long.  Bash only have about 50 - 60 years left, and he’d never age.

Loving a human was as unwise as it was comforting.]

I know…

[No Fortuna, don’t get teary-eyed in front of Owen, not with Greed bubbling as close under the surface as he is. Greed wants you to suffer, wants you to break Bash’s heart and send what relationship you had into a spiral. There’s a vicious glee in his eyes that he tries to hide, a pleased little chuckle rising in his throat that he pushes back down. Greed wants you to hurt, Fortuna. He wants his revenge.]

My dear, dear Pet. We all know luck is a fleeting thing. Did you really believe that you’d stay in one place, with someone mortal, for any length of time? I told you that you’d break his heart eventually, Fortuna. You’d make him bitter toward you and resent you—be it because of who you are or what you are. [He pressed a hand against his chest, brows up turned in a look meant for sympathy, though Greed twisted it into something mocking] You know how I hate to be right.

image

No he won’t—  He won’t resent me.  He knows, Owen. He knows what I am and he still wanted to marry me.

I know the feelings were.  Are.  Real.

Well when your hand is swelling and you’ve got a ring on it can cut off circulation and then all sorts of things get nasty.

image

It’s been almost 400 years since I’ve been married, Owen.

Somehow I get the feeling that’s not all it is.

image

Four hundred years and lifetimes ago. I wonder how long you would actually last in a marriage with a human.

I don’t know.

image

I don’t know if I can do it, Owen.

So I guess I’m just terribly lost.

Fortuna, or Lucky.  It’s a pleasure to meet you, even if we don’t know why I’m here.

That’s, a very funny name.

But, hello Fortuna I’m. Called Honey. Hi.

It is a bit of a funny name, isn’t it?

image

But then again, I’m a bit of a funny man… Hello, Honey.

Hm. Now why would you want to take off your precious engagement ring? Aren’t you close to walking down the aisle?

I want to take it off because I want to take it off, Owen.

image

But yes… The Wedding is soon.

And here I thought most happy couples liked to keep the rings on.

image

You seem terribly pleased about that. [That might be Greed coloring his words, that familiar frost and charming ice in his voice.]

Well when your hand is swelling and you’ve got a ring on it can cut off circulation and then all sorts of things get nasty.

I don’t really need anything…

Except for maybe a good drink and a poker table.

Well neither, of those things.

Are here, so.

[So, Honey’s wondering why this man’s here in the first place then.]

So I guess I’m just terribly lost.

Fortuna, or Lucky.  It’s a pleasure to meet you, even if we don’t know why I’m here.
